Alcohol & drug addiction is a chronic brain disease and every person, whether in the criminal justice system or not, has the fundamental right to an alcohol/drug assessment, treatment to arrest their disease, increase public safety, personal harm reduction, improved distribution of tax dollars, and keep their families together.
The staff consists of Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Alcohol/Drug Counselors, Intensive Case Managers, Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists, and trained Trauma EMDR Specialists. All staff members are passionate and dedicated to treating those with Mental Health and Substance Use disorders. Treatment consists of daytime, evening, and Saturday appointments.
Clients in our program may have an extensive criminal background that is associated directly or indirectly with substance use. They typically have significant barriers with their “responsivity needs” of housing, transportation, employment, finance, family, and peer associations. These barriers must be stabilized before treatment can have an impact on cognitive and behavioral changes.
We believe that it is better to treat the problem than to incarcerate the symptoms. The problem set before us is large but by working together it can be solved. ActionSteps Counseling is determined to be a part of the solution and the Arise program is just the beginning phase of that solution.
